2019 Young People’s Writing Competition
Schools and young people were encouraged to enter the competition.
This was the 7th year of the competition which culminated in a celebration of literacy at Langhorne Creek in September. The celebration featured local, successful publishers of children’s literature who conducted workshops and talked to the young aspiring authors about the craft of writing, illustrating and being published. The theme was Bees. Entries were judged on originality, appeal to an audience, sentence structure, correct grammar, accurate spelling and correct use of punctuation. The five young writer's categories were: OPEN CATEGORIES
BALLAD CATEGORIES
Prizes: The Winner in each OPEN category received an individual cash prize and a parcel of books for their school library. The Winner each BALLAD category received only a cash prize. Winners ONLY will be notified. Prizes were presented to winners at a special event at the Langhorne Creek Campus of Eastern Fleurieu School on Thursday, September 26, 2019.
